Future Concept Development

The Interactive Qualitative Research Guide (IQRG) is the conception of a Ph.D. course project for an instructional design and educational technology foundations course under the guidance of Associate Professor David R. Squires, Ph.D., at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The prototype model shared on this site embodies a minimum viable demonstration of a six-part design conjecture for introductory-level qualitative research methods.

Future iterations of the IQRG would include additional phases, as detailed on the concept page. Subsequent versions would also scaffold instructional support and tools such as explainer videos, resource links, and exemplary qualitative research designs.

Qualitative Research Guide: An Interactive Tool

Mission Statement

This guide aims to demystify the qualitative research process by providing an interactive, user-friendly digital resource that empowers researchers, particularly beginners, with the confidence to conduct effective qualitative studies.

Technological Toolkit

The Interactive Qualitative Research Guide project will use Microsoft PowerApps as the primary platform for developing the functional application. This application was chosen for its no-code/low-code environment, which is ideal for rapid development and integration with other Microsoft 365 tools. The methodology ensures a seamless blend of design finesse and functional efficiency, which is crucial for creating an engaging and educational digital tool for qualitative research.

Design Philosophy

Driven by a mission to demystify qualitative research, this project embodies a design philosophy that marries educational theory with digital innovation. It's about crafting an intuitive guide that distills complex research processes into accessible, practical steps for researchers.

Abstract

The Interactive Qualitative Research Guide is a digital tool designed to simplify and enhance the application of qualitative research methods. Targeting students and new researchers, it offers a digital roadmap of qualitative research practices, from initial planning to data analysis and reporting.
